How To Start An Affirmation Journal
A journal is any writing tool that you use to capture your thoughts and feelings, and then organize those thoughts into categories or stories. Yours can be anything from notes at work about things you are doing or thinking of doing to more in-depth personal journals.
Some people call this keeping a diary, but there’s a difference between a dialy and a journal. With a dayyficer, you have continential access to all of the journal entries. You could redo some of them if you wanted to.
With a jurnal, what you write in it now stays in that book forever! This means even if you don’t re‑read your old ones, someone else will see your development as you do. It also meaningly allows other people to read verbatim accurate messages you put in here.
Actually, I like both. Diaries are easier to reaccess than a long term keeping statue – just go through and edit where needed. But a true journal gives you better segregated out data for mentioning obessity and weight loss tips.
Create your journal
Once you have determined that you want to start an affirmation journal, you will need to create it! Pick a notebook or app where you can easily add notes and do some quick cross-referencing.
You don’t have to use bullet points as a place to organize your thoughts, but they worked for us! Use this one for tips on how to improve your life through affirmations.
Make sure to include both short and long term goals. You should also include dates when you plan to review these new behaviors. This way, you won’t forget!
And finally, remember that you should never make changes to your lifestyle with no proof that it works! Try out the affirmative statements for one week before investing more time in them.
Record your thoughts and feelings
A journal is not limited to only writing, you can also do other things like drawing or doing yoga exercises in the place of breathing. You can even create a word list and use that as your diary!
Any part of the journal can be used for anything you want to add into it. Do not feel obligated to make time each day for a specific activity, such as taking a bath or going out for a walk, but instead just start every week with this exercise!
Start by making a small notebook (or buy a pre-made one) to hold all of your positive notes and then gradually expand from there. Some people organize their journals by year and month while others have different categories depending on what they want to write about.
There are no wrong ways to begin working on your affirmation practice! Just remember to keep it simple at first.
When starting up an affirmation journal, your first goal should be to consistently do it every day for at least one minute. This can be done anywhere and any way you like-morning or night, with music or not, using the app or not!
Your subconscious mind does not care about how you start an exercise, it only cares if you did it and whether it was successful or not. So, even if you cannot make it more than two minutes of doing nothing but thinking about all the things you don’t have enough time in your life, that’s okay! Because the next step is to add “I am happy because…”
So, keep trying! And eventually, you will find yourself sitting down and really giving your self some affirmations before getting out of bed each morning. Or maybe you’ll wake up and decide to read an article of yours online right now!
And then, once you have mastered having a short meditation, you can expand onto longer ones where you feel comfortable. You are always allowed to say anything to yourself, so go crazy! Only put emphasis on positive things, though.
Journal for yourself
Starting an affirmation journal is not like buying a new notebook or starting a diary. You don’t have to use your affirmation journal in the same way you would other diaries, notebooks, or creative project journals.
You can add affirmations to your list any time, even several times a day if you want to. This can be good or bad depending on what you wish to achieve!
If you are looking to improve your relationship, start by making a positive assertion about relationships. If you want to gain confidence, begin with “I am confident” and then add something more specific such as “I know I can accomplish my goals” or “I will succeed because I believe in myself.”
For health, choose between a general statement (e.g., ‘I will feel healthier’) and a detail (e.g., ‘My skin will feel smoother’). Use this technique when you wake up in the morning or before going to sleep at night.
The best place to keep your affirmation journal is online so that you can access it anywhere. There are many free websites where you can create an account and upload your own material. Some of the most popular sites are: Google Keep, Evernote, and Penzu.
Journal about what you are grateful for
Starting your gratitude journal doesn’t require too much effort or time, but it will take some practice. When you start having thoughts that you don’t have anything to be thankful for, stop and make a note of something you do have!
It’s easy to get distracted with life’s challenges, which can prevent you from noticing all of the things that work out in your favor.
By making a habit of acknowledging what you have, you’ll eventually reach a place where there is nothing to add to the list. You’ll feel happier and more confident in yourself when you realize how well you’re doing without feeling obligated to keep talking about how hard things are.
You’ll also want to remember that this isn’t just for rich people with perfect lives. Even if you’re living in poverty right now, you’ve got enough to worry about – like whether you’ll eat tomorrow.
But chances are you’ll still wake up and go through your daily routines, minding your own business, thinking about only you and those close to you. It’s not until someone else notices these behaviors that you’ll really understand what true abundance means.
Journal about what makes you happy
Starting your affirmation journal isn’t very difficult, but it does require some time. When starting out, make sure your notes are simple and straightforward as you start to explore the art of happiness.
It’s easy to get distracted by all the different things that seem related to happiness, so try to focus on one thing at a time when writing in your journal.
Once you have identified your top strength, write down more details about it and how you can use it in other areas of your life. For example, if my strongest strength is being able to read really quickly, I would include this in my job as a writer.
Then, add these new ideas into your affirmations list. By doing this consistently, you will begin to feel happier and healthier. You will also learn more strengths of yours!

You might also like to write down your affirmations somewhere visible so that you have constant reminders. Some great places to put them include next to your bed, under your desk at work, or in the bathroom where you spend a lot of time.
Journal about what you should eat
Starting with “shoulds” can be tricky. Should you have chicken or fish for lunch? Should you exercise for an hour every day?
The problem is that most people are not doing these things already, so it makes no difference whether you choose to do them or not.
By writing down all of the reasons why you shouldn’t do something, it creates a lot of negative energy. It could also make you lose motivation to start doing the thing you’ve decided not to do.
So instead, try making a list of everything you need to do that you want to do. For example, a good affirmation journal article would be: “I will spend twenty minutes exercising today”. Or “I will make my bed after sleeping in it” or even your own personal affirations like “I will read one book per month”.
Once you have this list done, then write some bullet points under each item on how and/or why it helps to do this activity. For instance, under eating meat may include references such as healthier diet option, reduced health benefits of red meat, etc.
After you have enough bullets, then begin adding those bullet points into an empty page in your journal. Make sure to emphasize the importance of each point.
